FAQs
Q: When does the lacrosse season start?
A: High school and middle school practices have begun and games will start in late February and ends at the end of April.
Q: Where and when are practices?
A: High school and 7/8th grade practices are located at Four Points Middle School (temporary Vandegrift High School) on the upper practice field behind the school. They are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 P.M. until dark. 5/6th grade will not begin practices until February at a location to be determined and assigned by LISD.
Q: Can my son play basketball or wrestle and still play lacrosse?
A: Yes, basketball and wrestling seasons end before lacrosse games officially start. We would urge your son to make Saturday practices to keep his lacrosse skills up.
Q: Do you have teams for 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th boys?
A: Not yet. We hope to in the future. Boys in these grades can play at Town and Country. Registration begins in mid December. For more information go to
http://lacrosse.tandcsports.org/
.
Q: Do you have a girls program?
A: Not at this time. High school girls can play for the Cedar Park Girls Lacrosse Club. For more information go to
http://www.gohardorgohome.org/

Q: When is registration for Vipers Lacrosse?
A: Registration for High School has started but we are converting to an on-line system which will be ready shortly. Middle School registration will begin when the on-line system is complete.
Q: Can my son start practicing before we have registered?
A: Yes, but he must be a member of US Lacrosse.
Q: What is US Lacrosse and how does my son become a member?
A: US Lacrosse is the governing body for lacrosse in the United States. The Texas High School Lacrosse League requires all high school players to be a member in order to play. It is the Viper Lacrosse Club policy to have all players, including middle school, to be a member. In addition, it provides insurance coverage for you son while involved in all lacrosse activities. To become a member you may click on the following link.
http://www.uslacrosse.org/membership/index.phtml
Registration for High School is $35 and for Middle School is $25.
Q: How much does registration for the Vipers Lacrosse Club cost?
A: High school registration is $500 for the season. The middle school program will be $175. This is on the low end for club lacrosse at the high school level. Other high schools charge between $600 and $1200.
Q: What does the money go for?
A: Lacrosse is not a UIL sanctioned sport, so the high school team does not receive any support from Vandegrift High School or from LISD. The club must pay for league dues, referees, team equipment, field rental, coaches' stipends, tournament fees, uniforms and other expenditures.
Q: Do I need to pay the dues in full at the time of registration?
A: If you pay by debit or credit card you must pay in full at the time of registration. However, if you choose to pay by check you may divide your payments into two installments. Special circumstances can be reviewed by the Viper Lacrosse Board of Directors. No one will be turned away due to economic circumstances.

A: Players must live in the Vandegrift High School attendance zone.

A: He will need a lacrosse helmet, gloves, chest/shoulder pads, elbow pads, mouth piece, cup, cleats, and lacrosse stick. Optional rib pads can be purchased for rib and kidney protection. NOTE: Hockey helmets and gloves CANNOT be used under leagues rules. In addition, if your son plays on the high school team, their lacrosse head must be 2010 compliant under NCAA rules. For more information, click on the lacrosse equipment link to the left under the team tab. Also, don't buy a black helmet, as we want the team to match.
